Schedule Of Events

SaturdayTravel Day (No Meals Provided)
  • 3:00 p.m. - Earliest time that participants will be allowed access to their sleeping rooms
  • 9:00 a.m - 7:00 p.m. - Meet a Macy's Great American Marching Band representative at airport/train station for transfer to hotel or, if driving, arrive at host hotel.  PLEASE NOTE:  We will not offer transfers from JFK Airport.  Only Newark and LaGuardia.
  • 10:00 a.m. - Macy's Great American Marching Band Registration Table opens at Hilton Woodcliff Lake
    Luggage storage available
  • Beginning at 10:00 a.m. - Uniform Fittings at hotel
  • 3:00-9:00 p.m. - Swimming allowed at the hotel's indoor pool and Holiday movies in Amphitheater
  • 8:00 p.m. - All participants must be checked into hotel
  • 9:00 p.m. - Group Meeting
  • 10:00 p.m. - Chaperone Meeting
  • 11:00 p.m. - In rooms for evening/Bed check/Meet your chaperone
SundaySightseeing (Breakfast and Dinner provided)
  • Morning - "Welcome Breakfast" at hotel
    All Day - Admission to One World Observatory and The RIDE followed by free time to purchase your lunch (on own) and shop for souvenirs in Times Square
  • Dinner at Bubba Gump's
  • Evening - Band Member Rehearsal at Hotel
    Dancer and Guard Meeting at Hotel

MondayRehearsal/Seminar (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided)
  • Morning - Breakfast at hotel (Grand Ballroom)
  • All-Day - Rehearsal at Teaneck Sports Coliseum & Hotel with lunch provided
  • Evening- Dinner at Hotel
  • Engaging student leadership and music education seminar at Hotel
TuesdayRehearsal/City Time (Breakfast and Dinner provided)
  • Morning - Breakfast at Hotel
    Rehearsal at Teaneck & Hotel
  • Afternoon- Load motorcoaches and head to downtown New York City
  • Free time to purchase lunch on own and to shop for souvenir in Times Square area
    Evening - Group Dinner at Guy's American Kitchen
  • Group Band Photo in Times Square
  • Return to hotel
WednesdayRehearsal/Show (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner provided)
  • Morning- Breakfast at Hotel
    Rehearsal at Teaneck
  • Afternoon - Load motorcoaches and head downtown
    Boxed lunches provided to all participants today at Teaneck to eat on motorcoaches
  • Arrive in Manhattan - Matinee stage performance of NY Theater/Show (TBA)
  • Evening - Group Dinner and fun at Dave & Busters
  • Return to hotel to relax and rest for the evening and pick up uniforms.
  • Room check / lights out - MANDATORY as we have a early morning on Thursday!
ThursdayPARADE DAY (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided)

Rehearsal scheduled is released closer to the parade and will be on the final itinerary in your check-in packet.  Here is a sample of a previous year to give you an idea of the events for the day.

  • 1:00 a.m. - Make up and hair session for flags and dancers
    2:00 a.m. - Staff loads coaches
    2:15 a.m. - Members meet in lobby
    2:30 a.m. - Depart hotel dressed in performance attire
    Upon Arrival - Warm-up and meet Band Captain assigned by Macy's
    4:10 a.m. - Rehearsal of performance for NBC
  • 5:30 a.m. - Breakfast at Hard Rock Cafe
    Following Breakfast - Band arrives and unloads in uptown staging area
    9:00 AM The Parade Steps-off (NBC showing Broadway Acts and other Performers)
  • TBA - MGAMB Position in the parade line-up
    TBA - Perform in Herald Square in front of Macy's
    Following Performance - Return to hotel to change, have provided lunch, and turn in uniform
  • Following Parade. - Enjoy the casual lunch Buffet at the hotel, Hand-in Uniforms and Percussion instruments and Sousaphones. Percussionist and Sousaphone players must assist with packing and loading of these instruments in the equipment truck. Percussionist will need to remove all parade heads and replace with the heads that came with the drums from Mapex. Once you have removed your parade head, you will then get to keep one head for a souvenir. Cymbal players will be given one of the heads from the quints. Cymbal players will assist with this process as well and turn in your cymbals. Instructions will be given by one of the percussion staff.
    Pack for tomorrow's departure
  • 5:45 p.m. - Report to Grand Ballroom to begin dinner seating; any students departing with parents following dinner must bring their luggage down to the ballroom area for storage
  • 6:00-10:00 p.m. - Closing Ceremony with Thanksgiving Dinner and Dance
FridayTravel Day (No Meals Provided)
  • Morning - Turn in keys and sign out/check out for shuttle departure or drive home
    Transfer to airport/train station (Breakfast will not be offered this morning)
  • 10:00 a.m. - All Participants must be checked out of Hotel
* Itinerary is subject to finalization the week of the Parade. Attractions and meal locations subject to change as well. Macy's Annual Events determines parade order of march and rehearsal times. Itinerary may be changed at any time to address safety or logistical issues.
